Housing Pictures

This is a special post for the parental units. By popular demand (er, threats), I give you pictures of our empty and somehow rather messy apartment.
This is the back of on-post housing. They all look pretty much the same, just in different color. Oh, and some have balconies. Our unit has a potential to have a balcony but the Army decides against it and forgets to tell the contractors. So we have this instead. Yes, those are metal bars welded to the frame so little babies can't crawl out of the hole and drop down to the ground. At least the dogs like it.

There are parks everywhere, pretty much behind every apartment building. It just so happens that the one in our "backyard" is a very happening place to hang this summer. The playground is literally 20 yards away from my windows. And I so know school is out because these little people never leave. There are about a third of them in this picture because it's dinner time. You see the red-headed kid with a mohock and no shirt on? Yeah, we call him "The AntiChrist," because he's the leader of this bratty pack. Everyday, rain or shine, he's out there with his stun guns, bow and arrows, and super soaker, sometimes all at once. Their favorite game is to play "Army." If you sit in my living room, you will hear "I get to be the Commmander," "Then I'm the First Sergeant," "SHOW NO MERCY!!!," "Come out with your hands in the air," etc. They are in their fort building stage right now, as cardboard boxes are in ample supply from the moving company dropping off household goods.

Next up is our living/dinning room combination. Keep in mind that our stuff hasn't arrived yet, so it's rather bare and ugly at the moment. Oh, and government loaner furnitures are smelly. It's actually bigger than it appears in the picture. On the right hand side you'd see the top part of Brutus' kennel. It goes to the right about another 7 feet.

Then we have the kitchen, which is adjacent to the living room.
As you can see we haven't finished painting the apartment. The blue painter tapes are beginning to grow on me.

We have two bedrooms. The master is about as big as the living room. I'm not showing the guest room because it's really messy and I might get a call from my mother about it. Also, two fans are a must when there's no AC. And that wall square art thingy was left to us by the last family who lived here. I'm sweating just thinking about how many coats of primer and paint it will take to cover the dark brown wall.

And when nature calls...

Perhaps my most favorite part of our apartment is the German windows. Why don't we have this in the States? It's awesome! The window or door can be tilted on top for venting, like the one on the left, or opened like a door as the one on the right.

I will post some more pictures of the apartment once the painting is done and our stuff gets here. It will look a lot less like a camping site the next time.
